CCTV Cameras
Our CCTV installation company provide a range of popular and reliable branded cameras that clients value and appreciate, including Hikvision, Dahua and QVIS. We supply and install two types of CCTV camera technology: HD and IP.
HD Cameras
Analogue HD cameras use existing coaxial cable and are 2 to 8 megapixels. Most people choose analogue HD cameras currently because they are compatible with existing coaxial cabling and also lower cost than IP cameras, but for the highest quality, IP cameras are better.
New technology for analogue HD is POC (Power Over Coax), which means that the power can be fed through the coaxial cable, so you do not need a separate power cable. To use POC cameras, you need to have a POC DVR (Digital Video Recorder). Benefits include, lower cost for cables, and a separate power supply for the cameras is not required as they can be powered directly from the POC DVR.
IP Cameras
Digital HD cameras connected through a data cable. From 2 to 8 megapixels. IP CCTV security cameras are better than analogue HD. Cameras can be set to trigger with motion sensors which will detect movement or constant recording can be selected. All cameras have night vision using infra red.
For both HD and IP cameras, new technology called ColorVu and Starlight, allows colour recording and viewing during the night, rather than black and white. Also both camera types now have functionality of being able to talk to the camera via the mobile app. For example, you can be alerted when someone triggers the motion detection on the camera and then you are able to talk with that person. Also these cameras can have predefined messages, based on time of day. For example, one message might be “private property, please leave”. You can also create custom messages.
Digital Video Recorders (DVR)
Hard drives within the DVR are available with capacities between 500GB to 16 Terabyte. 500GB – 1 week of footage with motion sensor recording with 4 HD analogue cameras (720p resolution). 1000GB (1 Terabyte) – 1 week of footage with motion sensor recording with 4 HD IP digital cameras (4 megapixel resolution).
The latest innovation is a POC DVR, which is a Power Over Coax DVR, which needs fewer cables and keeps the DVR tidy. Sizes available between 1 Terabyte to 32 Terabytes.
Apps to View Footage
Using an app that comes with the DVR, CCTV system footage can be viewed on your mobile phone (smartphone), tablet or desktop computer all for free with easy to use advanced software for greater control, and this comes as standard. Live footage can be viewed from your device anywhere in the world where you have an internet connection. Footage will be viewed across a secure network connection to ensure your privacy. CCTV apps work in iOS (Apple), Android and Windows OS. We use a few different types of DVR and they all have different apps such as, Alien, iDMSS, XMEye DMSS, IVMS, and Hik-Connect.
CCTV Installation Cost
CCTV installation cost depends on the service and quality you require. Techcube may be more expensive than ‘one man band’ sole traders and part-time installers, but we offer much more and are highly qualified to SSAIB standards. Our company is very proud to achieve SSAIB approved status every year. Cost of equipment and for our installation service varies and this is dependent on the size of the property and the number of entry points (access points). CCTV system cost also depends on the specification of each CCTV camera, Digital Video Recorders (DVR) and other equipment and how cables are run.
Our Process
Estimate and Site Survey
For home installations, we can usually send you an estimate based on remote observation of the property via Google Street View and information provided by the customer, for example, number of rooms, access points and so on. For larger installations, we visit the property to carry out a free survey and then send a free estimate. The estimate contains product specification information and price. Specification is important so that you know which CCTV system components will be installed. Other companies who do not state specification may end up installing lower quality products. Transparency in the products used ensures that the resulting CCTV system meets your requirements. If you are getting multiple estimates, ensure that the brand and model of each component is listed and be cautious of CCTV companies who do not provide this information.
Design Proposal (Specification)
Before the day of the security camera installation, we will create a design proposal (specification) that details CCTV camera placement for the property, and the specification of cameras and the DVR and their settings.
Booking Your Installation
When you have approved the estimate, we will call you to book the work into our diary at a time that suits you. This is usually within a week, although emergency installation can be completed within a day if you’ve recently been burgled for example. Installations can be completed 7 days a week, which is convenient if you work during the week.
Installation Day
Ideally the property decision-maker will be on site to ensure complete satisfaction with the CCTV security system. We work out how to connect to the internet and where to place the Digital Video Recorder and how to run cables. All the work is completed to SSAIB standards, for example, all cables are labelled and kept tidy.
Privacy and Data Protection
The UK Government, including the Surveillance Camera Commissioner, created guides for residential and commercial CCTV use, including information about privacy issues and how to use CCTV responsibly and within the law:
